Job Family Group: Retail Banking Sales & Service

Deliver exceptional service to BMO customers and prospects. Identify customer needs and provide advice and guidance on financial solutions that are in the best interests of customers. Collaborate within the branch and with BMO partners to deliver a positive customer experience and achieve business objectives.

U.S. Only: This position will originate consumer loans as defined by Regulation Z, Regulation G, and the S.A.F.E. Act. It requires federal registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry. The Bank will guide you on registration requirements. A criminal background check and credit review are required, along with restrictions on real estate agent activities.

  1. Proactively engage with existing customers and prospects to assess needs, grow loyalty, and identify opportunities.
  2. Conduct needs assessments to recommend tailored financial solutions, including banking, investments, lending, and small business solutions.
  3. Advise customers on digital and self-serve banking options to enhance convenience.
  4. Support customer transactions during peak times.
  5. Expand BMO’s business by outreach, setting appointments, and community engagement.
  6. Ensure compliance through accurate data entry, legal and regulatory adherence, and proper lending procedures.
  7. Apply risk management principles to protect assets and maintain portfolio quality.
  8. Make credit recommendations for personal and home financing loans, following sound credit principles.
  9. Collaborate effectively as part of a branch and market team.
  10. Understand customer needs for banking and credit cards, integrating marketing strategies into conversations.
  11. Organize work efficiently to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  12. Personalize customer experiences through creative approaches.
  13. Contribute to improving the overall customer experience and branch results.
  14. Work across multiple branches as needed; schedule may vary.
  15. Follow risk and compliance policies to safeguard assets and privacy.
  16. Stay informed about market trends, regulations, and industry standards.
  17. Maintain knowledge of products, practices, and trends, integrating them into customer interactions.
  18. Report suspicious activities related to money laundering.
  19. Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  20. Handle complex tasks and escalations within established guidelines.
  21. Analyze issues and determine next steps.

Qualifications:

  • Typically 2-3 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree or equivalent experience.
  • For Canada: Registration to sell investment products, as appropriate.
  • Lending qualifications and designations.
  • Knowledge of personal and small business banking needs and solutions.
  • Experience with retail investments and lending products.
  • Comfort with social media, tablets, smartphones, and online tools.
  • Experience in customer service or sales with a focus on personalized service.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-centric mindset.
  • Excellent listening, problem-solving, and adaptability skills.
  • Effective communication, organization, and teamwork skills.

Salary: $41,715.00 - $63,700.00

Pay Type: Salaried

Salaries vary based on location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications, and may include commissions. Part-time salaries are prorated. The listed salary is a target for the first year and may include performance incentives, bonuses, and benefits such as health insurance, tuition reimbursement, and retirement plans.
