Job Family Group: Retail Banking Sales & Service

Deliver exceptional service to BMO customers and prospects. Identify customer needs and provide advice and guidance regarding financial solutions that are in the best interests of customers. Collaborate within the branch and with BMO partners to deliver the desired customer experience and achieve overall business objectives.

U.S. Only: This position will act as an originator of consumer loans as defined by Regulation Z, Regulation G, and the S.A.F.E. Act. It requires Federal registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry. A criminal background review and credit history evaluation will be conducted. Restrictions on performing in a real estate agent capacity may apply.

  • Proactively engage with existing customers and prospects through needs-based assessments to grow loyalty and identify opportunities.
  • Assist customers in needs assessments to identify financial solutions and preferred banking channels, recommending tailored solutions including everyday banking, investments, lending, home financing, and small business solutions.
  • Advise clients on digital and self-serve options to make banking easy, simple, and fast.
  • Support customer transactions based on traffic.
  • Build relationships within the community by reaching out, generating appointments, and expanding the customer base.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, accurately process data, and provide appropriate lending recommendations.
  • Apply risk management principles to protect the bank's assets and maintain portfolio quality.
  • Make credit recommendations for personal and home financing transactions following sound credit principles and bank policies.
  • Contribute as a collaborative team member within the branch and market.
  • Understand customer needs for banking and credit cards, integrating marketing promotions into conversations.
  • Organize work information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Find creative approaches to personalize the customer experience.
  • Contribute to improving the overall branch customer experience and business results.
  • Work at multiple branches as needed; schedule may vary.
  • Follow risk and compliance policies to safeguard assets and maintain customer privacy.
  • Stay informed about market trends, legal and regulatory environment, and industry standards.
  • Maintain current knowledge of banking products, practices, and trends.
  • Report suspicious activity related to money laundering.
  • Complete complex tasks within rules and handle escalations as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Typically 2-3 years of relevant experience; post-secondary degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Canada-specific: Registration to sell investment products completed if applicable.
  • Lending qualifications and designations.
  • Knowledge of personal and small business customer needs and solutions.
  • Experience in financial services is an asset.
  • Proficient with social media, tablets, smartphones, and online tools.
  • Experience in customer service or sales with a focus on personal experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, listening, problem-solving, and flexible response skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication, organization, collaboration, and analytical skills.

Salary: $41,715.00 - $67,000.00

Pay Type: Salaried
