Job Family Group: Retail Banking Sales & Service

Deliver exceptional service to BMO customers and prospects. Identify customer needs and provide advice and guidance on financial solutions that are in the best interests of customers. Collaborate within the branch and with BMO partners to deliver a superior customer experience and achieve business objectives.

Note for U.S. Applicants: This position involves acting as an originator of consumer loans as defined by Regulation Z, Regulation G, and the S.A.F.E. Act. Federal registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry is required. A criminal background review and credit check will also be conducted.

  • Engage proactively with existing customers and prospects, providing needs-based assessments to foster loyalty and uncover opportunities.
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify financial solutions and preferred banking channels; recommend tailored solutions including everyday banking, investments, lending, home financing, and small business solutions.
  • Advise clients on digital and self-serve banking options to make banking easy, simple, and fast.
  • Support customer transaction needs and build relationships within the community through outreach and appointments.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and lending policies during credit audits and quality checks.
  • Apply risk management principles to protect assets and maintain portfolio quality.
  • Make credit recommendations for personal and home financing loans, adhering to sound credit principles and bank policies.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a branch and market team.
  • Understand customer needs for banking and credit cards; incorporate marketing promotions into customer conversations.
  • Organize work information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Innovate to create personalized customer experiences and contribute to branch improvements.
  • Support business results and overall branch customer experience.
  • Work across multiple branches as needed; schedule may vary weekly.
  • Follow risk, compliance, and legal requirements to safeguard customer assets and privacy.
  • Stay informed about market trends, legal and regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
  • Identify and report suspicious activities related to money laundering.
  • Complete complex tasks within established rules and handle escalations when necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Typically 2-3 years of relevant experience; post-secondary education or equivalent preferred.
  • For Canada: Investment product sales registration completed; appropriate lending qualifications and designations.
  • Knowledge of personal and small business banking needs, solutions, investments, and lending products.
  • Experience in financial services and familiarity with social media, digital tools, and applications.
  • Customer service or sales experience with a focus on personal customer experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, listening, problem-solving, and adaptability skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication, organization, collaboration, and analytical skills.

Salary: $41,715.00 - $67,000.00 | Pay Type: Salaried
