Major Responsibilities

• Develops competence in dispensing and delivery of medications, including use of information systems, technology, and automation.
• Prepares non-sterile products following USP, state, and federal guidelines.
• Enters medication orders and processes requests via computer systems.
• Manages communication with customers, nurses, physicians, and patients, ensuring issues are understood and resolved or escalated.
• Follows pharmacy procedures and documentation to meet legal and departmental standards.
• Complies with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards, including controlled substances and USP procedures.

Licensure, Registration, And/or Certification

Wisconsin registration as a Pharmacy Technician or Student; Certification (CPhT) by PTCB or ExCPT within two years of hire; must sit for the exam at least once within the first year.

Patient-facing staff may need immunization and injectable certification from Wisconsin or approved out-of-state programs.
