Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System, part of Trinity Health, is seeking a part-time Retail Pharmacy Technician to cover weekends and vacations. Under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, you will assist with processing and delivering medications and patient care tasks.

This role requires a High School Diploma or GED, CPTB/PTCB certification and state registration, plus six months of retail or hospital ambulatory experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPTB/PTCB) and Ohio Board registration required.
• Six months of experience in retail or hospital ambulatory pharmacy.
• 18+ with no felony convictions per Ohio law.
• Must maintain registration throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve, process, prepare, and distribute medications for patient care.
• Ensure accurate and timely preparation and delivery of medications.
• Assist with enrollment and processing of Meds2Beds medications.
• Maintain inventory and stock replenishments.
• Assist with prior authorizations and insurance processing.
• Document distribution in electronic health records and billing systems.
• Enter and retrieve information in the prescription processing system.

Position Purpose:

Retail Pharmacy Technician, within the scope of the Ohio Administrative Code, will provide timely, accurate, cost effective, and patient-centric pharmaceutical care under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist.

What You Will Do:

• Will assist Pharmacists in the retrieval, processing, preparation, and distribution of medications for patient administration which includes:
• Accurate preparation of patient medications
• Accurate and timely delivery of patient specific medications
• Assist with enrollment and processing of Meds2Beds patient medications
• Maintain inventory, medication replenishments, and drug stock
• Assist the Pharmacist with medication or patient care related issues
• Assist the Pharmacist with prior authorizations for medications
• Documents the distribution of medication for proper use and reimbursement in accordance with department policy.
• Enter information into and retrieving information from an electronic health record or prescription processing computer system.
• Insurance claims processing.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Licensure / Certification: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPT) provided by the National Health Career Association or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification and registration with State Board of Pharmacy (required)
• Experience: Six months of experience in a retail pharmacy or a hospital-based ambulatory pharmacy
• 18 years of age or older with no felony convictions, per Ohio Revised Code 4729.42
• Maintains registration throughout the course of employment
