Job summary

Inova Schar Cancer Center Retail Pharmacy is seeking a dedicated Retail Pharmacy Technician 1 to join the team. This PRN role runs Monday–Friday and weekends, with flexibility required.

The position supports dispensing medications, entering prescriptions, and maintaining documentation on site at Inova Fairfax East. Candidate must have at least 1 year of retail pharmacy experience, a Virginia registered Pharmacy Technician or a Pharmacy intern license, and BLS certification within 3 months of

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year of retail pharmacy technician experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Pharmacist in reviewing, processing, preparing, filling, labeling and dispensing medications and supplies.
• Clean equipment and maintain temperature logs per system policies.
• Check inventory for out-of-date products and log them in Expiring Medication log book.
• Enter prescription information into computer systems, including patient/prescriber search, drug selection, insurance billing, and issue resolution.
• Prepare medications for clients by counting pills, mixing medications, and labeling bottles.

• Assists the Pharmacist in reviewing, processing, preparing, filling, labeling and dispensing medications and supplies.
• Cleans equipment and maintains all required temperature logs according to system policies and procedures.
• Checks medication and administration supply inventory for out-of-date products, removes products from inventory and works with the appropriate resource to record out of date products in the Expiring Medication log book.
• Performs computer entry of prescription information including, but not limited to, patient/prescriber search, drug selection, prescription interpretation/entry, insurance billing and basic problem resolution.
• Prepares medications for clients through mixing medications, counting pills, and labeling bottles.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

High School or GED.

Experience:

One (1) year Retail Pharmacy Technician experience.

Certification:

Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Virginia or a Pharmacy intern license. Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months of hire.
