Job summary

Inova Schar Cancer Center Pharmacy in Falls Church, VA, is seeking a dedicated Retail Pharmacy Technician 1 to join the team on a full-time basis. The role features Monday–Friday days/evenings with weekend rotation as needed and supports pharmacists in dispensing medications and maintaining accuracy.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Certification: Virginia Licensed Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy intern license; BLS within 3 months of hire.
• Experience: One (1) year of Retail Pharmacy Technician experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Pharmacist in reviewing, processing, preparing, filling, labeling and dispensing medications and supplies.
• Cleans equipment and maintains temperature logs.
• Checks inventory for out-of-date products and logs expirations.
• Performs computer entry of prescription information including patient/prescriber search, drug selection, and insurance billing.
• Prepares medications for clients by mixing medications, counting pills, and labeling bottles.

• Assists the Pharmacist in reviewing, processing, preparing, filling, labeling and dispensing medications and supplies.
• Cleans equipment and maintains all required temperature logs according to system policies and procedures.
• Checks medication and administration supply inventory for out-of-date products, removes products from inventory and works with the appropriate resource to record out of date products in the Expiring Medication log book.
• Performs computer entry of prescription information including, but not limited to, patient/prescriber search, drug selection, prescription interpretation/entry, insurance billing and basic problem resolution.
• Prepares medications for clients through mixing medications, counting pills, and labeling bottles.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School or GED.

Certification: Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Virginia or a Pharmacy intern license. Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience: One (1) year of Retail Pharmacy Technician experience.
