Job summary

The General Hospital Corporation is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician for the Revere Health Center. The schedule is Monday through Thursday 9-5:30, Friday 8:30-5, and alternating Saturdays 8:30am-12pm.

You will support pharmacists, enter prescriptions, and assist with customer service and delivery of medications on-site. Required are a High School Diploma or equivalent, a State Pharmacy Technician license, and PTCB certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists with filling prescriptions.
  • Answer phones and greet customers.

  • Maintain medication inventory and place orders.
  • Deliver medications within the hospital and to patients as needed.

Job Summary Certified Pharmacy Technician for Revere Health Center

Schedule: Monday through Thursday 9-5:30, Fri 8:30-5, and every other Saturday 8:30am-12pm.

Assists pharmacists with filling prescriptions, answers phones, enters prescriptions into the computer, greets and assists customers, solves non-professional customer service issues; mails prescriptions; uses automated filling machines; files prescriptions and reports; conducts inventory and orders medications; handles third-party insurance, beside delivery to patients within the hospital.

Essential Functions (Key Roles & Responsibilities)
  • Under the direction of a staff pharmacist and/or pharmacy leadership team, follow established policies and procedures to perform a variety of routine support tasks that are integral to the operation of the pharmacy department
  • Familiarity with pharmacy practice settings, legal requirements and limitations, prescription information and calculations, drug identification and generic equivalents, drug manufacturing, packaging and labeling information, and proper drug handling and storage practices
  • Responsible for supporting the operations of the pharmacy and ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of medications and healthcare products
  • Utilizes area-specific technology, including, but not limited to, robotics, automation, software, equipment, and information systems
  • Demonstrates professionalism and effectively communicates with patients and caregivers to gather information and or triage inquiries.
  • Audit medication storage areas utilizing data collection tools (if applicable)
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards
Education
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Can this role accept experience in lieu of Education requirements? No
Licenses and Certifications
  • Pharmacy Technician [State License] required
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification [CPhT] - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required
Work Experience
  • Pharmacy Technician experience 0-1 year required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow verbal and written instructions, including department policies and procedures
  • Understand HIPAA privacy rules and will use discretion handling patient related information
  • Ability to adhere to safety requirements for handling non-hazardous and hazardous medications in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements
  • Proficient with math calculations associated with ass signed responsibilities
  • Ability to distinguish routine functions from those requiring a pharmacist's professional judgment
  • Ability to work with sustained attention and care on routine, repetitive tasks
