Job summary

BJC HealthCare is seeking a patient-centered Pharmacy Technician - Retail 1 to join St. Louis’s pediatric pharmacy team at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

The role supports pharmacists by handling clerical tasks, processing prescriptions, entering patient and insurance data, and managing inventory in a busy retail pharmacy setting.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED; state Board of Pharmacy registration is required, with no specific experience necessary.

Responsibilities

• Completes clerical duties, including sending and receiving tubes & faxes, filing prescriptions, processing mail & courier prescriptions.

• Sells prescriptions (POS system), handles cash, manages payment exceptions and reconciles cash.
• Orders and manages inventory (drug and non-drug); stocks shelves; rotates, organizes, and removes expired product; performs cycle counts and returns to stock.
• Completes data entry, contact manager, product dispensing (manual and automated via Parata and RxSafe), and basic compounding.

Role Purpose

The Pharmacy Technician - Retail 1, under the direct supervision of a staff pharmacist and according to standard procedures, performs general clerical and support duties for the department. This position is also responsible for entering information into the pharmacy IT system, selling prescriptions, managing inventory and completing prescription workflow steps.
