Job summary

Belk is seeking an Human Resources Lead for an hourly, store-based role in Sumter, SC. The role focuses on hiring, training, retention, and building weekly schedules to meet store objectives while delivering a best-in-class associate experience.

A monthly bonus eligibility is included as part of the compensation package. The position requires leading recruitment processes, onboarding, engagement initiatives, data integrity across HR systems, and effective scheduling, with responsibilities

Qualifications

• 1+ years of Retail Leadership/HR Management experience.
• Ability to fill open positions, communicate openings, recruit, interview and complete hiring processes.
• Strong onboarding, training, and retention capabilities to prepare new hires for service and operational excellence.
• Data integrity and reporting proficiency with associate data across company systems.
• Flexible schedule abilities including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate ownership and accountability to achieve store objectives and key metrics.
• Fill open positions timely: communicate openings, recruit, review applications, schedule interviews, run background checks, complete hiring.
• Conduct engaging onboarding to prepare new hires for service, selling, and operations.
• Lead retention and engagement initiatives and promote continuous learning.
• Maintain accurate associate data across systems for compliance and payroll.
• Create effective weekly schedules aligned with talent and business needs; audit timecards and attendance.
• Participate in leadership planning meetings; use talent data to drive actions.
• Provide guidance to store team and resolve associate concerns while maintaining confidentiality.
• Perform daily cash office duties including deposits, change orders, and cash audits.
• Lead shortage control and uphold asset protection, safety, and security protocols.
