Job summary

Southern States Cooperative, Inc. seeks a seasoned Retail Operations professional to assist the Retail Store Manager in daily store activities across departments, focusing on merchandising, inventory and customer service.

The role requires 3+ years in agribusiness/retail, 1+ year in leadership, and a valid driver's license; willingness to obtain forklift, CDL/hazmat, petroleum certifications as needed; strong budgeting and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of related experience in agribusiness, plant science, petroleum, livestock / pet care, or related industry.
• At least one year in a leadership role.
• Bachelor's Degree or an Associate's Degree with specialization in agronomy, plant science, business management, or related field.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Forklift Certification (or ability to obtain).
• CDL / hazmat endorsement (or ability to obtain).
• Petroleum and/or Propane Certification (or ability to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Retail Store Manager to execute a strategic retail operations plan that aligns customer service, sales and volume building, merchandising, inventory management, budgeting and expense control with SSC goals.
• Manage daily operations for multiple departments within the facility; support front-end/POS; manage showroom merchandising and inventory levels.
• Develop a highly effective team; coach staff to drive sales and customer service; lead daily team meetings.
• Engage with customers to make sales and take orders for services in-store and on-site; promote the SSC brand in the local community.
• Oversee staffing plans and hiring; conduct performance reviews and administer corrective action.
• Ensure proper pricing and coordination with corporate for inventory and profits; monitor compliance with SSC policies and government regulations.
• Administer safety programs; maintain OSHA/EPA compliance; ensure a safe, clean facility and lead safety initiatives.
• Must be able to travel 10-20% of the time depending on location; extend hours as needed.
