General Summary:
The Buyer-in-Training (BIT) position is the entry-level role within CarMax’s Merchandising department. Under supervision, BITs are responsible for managing CarMax’s extensive used car inventory by conducting customer appraisal assessments, making appraisal offers, coordinating on-site Wholesale Auctions, and attending regional auctions as assigned. The program lasts approximately 4-6 months and includes comprehensive training on vehicle basics, market analytics, and offsite behaviors, supervised by a Manager.
