Job summary

American Institute of Architecture Students in New York is seeking Senior, Intermediate, and Junior Technical Designers to lead retail-focused drawing production, coordinate with consultants and project managers, and support construction-phase activities.

The ideal candidate brings a balance of creative concept development and technical execution in retail store planning, back-of-house coordination, and millwork design, with expertise in Revit and AutoCAD and familiarity with Bluebeam and Adobe

Qualifications

3-8 years of professional experience, preferably focused on retail.
Independent and creative thinker who can collaborate, multitask and communicate clearly.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD; familiarity with Bluebeam and Adobe Design is a plus.
Knowledge of Building Codes and ADA requirements.

Responsibilities

Travel and perform architectural site surveys.
Produce detailed drawing sets across SD, DD, CD with retail-specific detailing and coordination.
Coordinate with external consultants to ensure a complete set of construction documents for landlord approvals and permit processes.
Assist the Project Manager with coordination of construction documents for approval.
Attend virtual weekly OAC calls, review shop drawings and RFIs during construction.
Attend weekly virtual OAC calls throughout construction.
Travel for construction site visits, including punch-list at completion.
