Overview
We are seeking a highly collaborative, people-centric, and operationally savvy Retail HR Manager to join our team. The Retail HR Manager will support our West Coast retail stores by managing daily HR functions, local strategy, and initiatives. This role involves working closely with leadership and central HR teams to execute HR strategies aligned with our organization’s mission and vision. The position can be based at our NYC corporate office or within commuting distance to our West Coast stores, with a presence in retail locations.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Provide full HR support daily, including recruitment, employee relations and investigations, local compliance, talent development, management, and employee inquiries.
- Partner with the HR team to develop and implement HR programs, initiatives, and strategies, offering insights and recommendations.
- Build effective, trustworthy, and collaborative partnerships with field teams, fostering open communication, accountability, and inclusivity.
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations issues, offering guidance and support to management.
- Manage and conduct investigations thoroughly and promptly, presenting recommendations and facilitating resolutions, involving legal and upper management as needed.
- Participate in the full recruitment cycle from posting to onboarding, ensuring a positive experience for candidates, new hires, and hiring managers.
- Manage P&L responsibilities related to payroll and FTE budgets within the market.
- Ensure effective utilization of the company onboarding program to enhance retention and performance.
- Support employee offboarding processes, including documentation, final pay, and exit interviews.
- Collaborate with management to develop strategies focused on succession planning, talent development, engagement, and culture.
- Maintain HR documentation for the assigned area.
- Develop strong cross-functional internal partnerships, acting as a trusted advisor and business partner.
- Lead company-wide processes such as organizational changes, policy updates, performance reviews, and open enrollment.
- Prepare reports and presentations as needed, both cyclical and ad hoc.
- Stay informed on trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new HR technologies.
- Ensure local compliance with company policies and regulations through audits, training, and corrective actions.
- Champion recognition programs and coordinate events and celebrations.
- Provide guidance on employee inquiries related to policies, benefits, and leave, liaising with central HR or relevant departments.
- Evaluate and improve existing HR processes, identifying areas for enhancement.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of HR experience, preferably in luxury/high-end retail or hospitality industries.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field.
- Knowledge of employment and labor laws and regulations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with excellent interpersonal and time management abilities.
- Resourceful problem solver with attention to detail and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities.
- High level of discretion and confidentiality.
- People-centric self-starter who thrives in fast-paced environments.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and adaptability to new systems and processes.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with HRIS systems is a plus.
Salary Range
$85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year, commensurate with experience.
