Job summary

North 40 Outfitters is seeking a Controller to join our Home Office team in Great Falls, MT. You will lead the day-to-day accounting function and ensure the integrity and effectiveness of our financial operations across a high-volume retail environment.

The role requires strong accounting expertise, GAAP knowledge, and the ability to partner with leadership and store operations, with potential periodic travel. This is a full-time, Monday–Friday position based in Great Falls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
• Significant progressive accounting experience, including financial close, general ledger, reconciliations, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Experience leading accounting operations within a retail, multi-location environment with high transaction volume.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting function and ensure integrity of financial operations.
• Oversee financial close, reporting, general ledger, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Manage inventory accounting, tax compliance, audits, and cash management across multiple locations.
• Coordinate sales and use tax preparation and filing; support federal/state/local tax compliance.
• Collaborate with leadership and store operations to maintain strong financial processes.
