Job summary

Ocean State Job Lot is seeking a Facilities Associate to maintain a clean, safe, and functional store environment. You will perform interior and exterior upkeep, report hazards, and support basic merchandising tasks as needed.

This role requires physical work, ability to lift up to 35 lbs, and comfort working in a climate-controlled retail setting. Experience in facilities or retail is preferred, and strong communication helps in coordinating with store leadership.

Qualifications

• Prior facilities experience is required.
• Experience working in a retail environment or in customer service is preferred.
• Basic math and reading skills, legible handwriting, and good verbal and written communication skills are preferred.
• Work primarily in a climate controlled environment with extended periods of movement and physical activity.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

• Identify and correct maintenance and safety issues inside and outside the store, ensuring the well‑being of associates and customers.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, and generally maintain floors, steps and other similar surfaces.
• Empty waste containers and dispose interior trash and debris.
• Check and maintain bathroom, breakroom and other supplies needed for normal use.
• Maintain approaches to buildings by keeping them clear of debris, snow, and obstructions.
• Ensure storage areas and materials are safe, clean, and orderly with labeled cleaning supplies.
• Ensure customers receive exceptional service on the sales floor and at the point of sale.
• Assist with merchandising tasks, including stocking, displays, and pricing, and operate a cash register as needed.
• Perform duties with a focus on safeguarding Company property.
• Communicate issues to store leadership in a timely manner.
