Job summary

G&M Oil Company Inc. is seeking a diligent store associate to deliver friendly customer service and handle POS transactions with accuracy in a fast-paced retail environment in California. You will help maintain clean facilities, stock merchandise, and assist with safety and compliance throughout shifts.

The role requires good math skills, English communication, and flexibility to work various shifts across district stores. Training on the PDI Enterprise POS will be provided.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Excellent computer skills / competency in PDI Enterprise POS (evaluation required).
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to learn simple tasks quickly and work with little or no supervision.
• Basic math skills.
• Food Handlers Permit, if required by store/county.
• Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) in English.
• Have open availability to work all shifts as needed at home store and other stores within district when the need arises.

Responsibilities

• Operate POS (cash register and fuel console) precisely and accurately handle money and other types of payment received for product sold.
• Perform service transactions in accordance with company policy: credit card transactions, manufacturer coupon redemption, vendor check-in, alcohol, tobacco and lottery sales, and fast food sales.
• Check identification for alcohol, tobacco and lottery products according to company policy.
• Actively participate in all sales promotions and other campaigns; practice suggestive selling and build customer relations.
• Review and adhere to all laws affecting store operations.
• Maintain a neat personal appearance and wear company uniform and name tag at all times.
• Prepare hot food items per Store Manager procedures and maintain condiment bar and freshness of products.
• Ensure store cleanliness, safe operation of equipment, and proper backroom organization.
• Receive products, stock shelves, and rotate perishable items; restock as needed.
• Follow safety procedures and participate in team-building activities.
