Job summary

Family Dollar in East Hartford, CT is seeking a Customer Service Associate to support a friendly shopping environment. You will assist customers, handle transactions at the register, stock shelves, and help maintain clean, safe store conditions.

The role emphasizes great customer service, effective communication, and teamwork with fellow associates and leaders. Part-time hours are available, with responsibilities including unloading merchandise and restocking as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous customer service experience in retail, hospitality, food service, grocery, or drug store environment is highly preferred.
• Ability to follow instructions and interpret operational documents is required.
• Must be able to lift 30–50 lbs from floor to above shoulder height and handle frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
• Excellent customer service and relationship management skills are required.
• Strong organizational and communication skills are required.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with questions and recommendations.
• Manage sales transactions while working assigned cash register.
• Maintain security of cash and protect company assets.
• Keep the store well-stocked, and recover merchandise.
• Receive merchandise and help with unloading trucks, stock replenishment per productivity standards.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment with professional and friendly interactions.
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the store including bathrooms, floors, trash removal, and neat presentation.
