Job summary

G&M Oil Company Inc. is seeking a customer-focused retail associate to provide exceptional service at our store in California. You will handle transactions, assist customers, stock shelves, and maintain a clean, safe environment for guests and staff.

Responsibilities include operating the POS system, processing payments, ensuring compliance with laws, and supporting promotions and daily store operations. Prior retail experience and reliability are valued attributes.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Excellent computer skills / competency in PDI Enterprise POS (evaluation required).
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to learn simple tasks quickly and work with little or no supervision.
• Basic math skills.
• Food Handlers Permit, if required by store/county.
• Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) in English.
• Have open availability to work all shifts as needed at home store and other stores within district when the need arises.

Responsibilities

• Operate POS (cash register and fuel console) precisely and accurately handle money and other types of payment received for product sold.
• Perform credit card transactions, coupon redemption, vendor check-in, and other sales according to policy.
• Check identification for alcohol, tobacco and lottery products.
• Actively participate in promotions and campaigns; practice suggestive selling and build customer relations.
• Review and adhere to city, county, state, and federal laws affecting store operations.
• Maintain a neat appearance and wear uniform and name tag.
• Prepare hot food items per Store Manager procedures and maintain condiment bar.
• Ensure store cleanliness and restock as needed; manage backroom organization.
• Receive deliveries, stock shelves, and keep counters and equipment clean.
