Job summary

North 40 Outfitters is seeking a Controller to join our Home Office in Great Falls, MT. You will lead the accounting function, drive close processes, and ensure accurate financial reporting across multiple locations.

The role requires a strong background in GAAP, internal controls, tax compliance, and collaboration with leadership to optimize financial performance in a high-volume retail environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related field.
• Significant progressive accounting experience including financial close, GL, reconciliations and internal controls.
• Experience leading accounting operations within a retail, multi-location, inventory-intensive environment.
• Experience coordinating tax compliance, audits, and external reviews.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting function and financial close processes.
• Oversee general ledger, inventory accounting, cash management, AP/AR, fixed assets.
• Ensure tax compliance, audits, and internal controls across multiple locations.
• Partner with leadership and store operations to maintain financial integrity and reporting accuracy.
• Support capital expenditures tracking and budgeting processes.
