Job Overview

We’re looking for Story Rangers & Play Guides, engaging, customer-focused people who love helping others discover great games, books, toys, and creative experiences. You’ll combine outstanding retail service with playful storytelling to create memorable moments that keep customers coming back.

Whether you’re helping a family find their next favorite game, recommending the perfect birthday gift, teaching someone a new game, or sharing a glimpse into the myths of the Wylding Woods, you’ll help transform an ordinary shopping trip into something special.

What You’ll Do

Deliver Exceptional Customer Service: Create a welcoming environment where every guest feels seen and supported. Learn about each customer’s interests and confidently recommend games, books, toys, gifts, and creative activities they’ll love.

Drive Sales Through Discovery: This is an active sales role. Ask thoughtful questions, demonstrate products, recommend complementary items, and help customers discover something they didn’t know they were looking for.

Be a Play Guide: Share your enthusiasm for games, toys, books, and creative play. Demonstrate games, recommend products for different ages and interests, and help customers find experiences that bring families together.

Be a Story Ranger: Bring a touch of wonder into the store by weaving small pieces of the Wylding Woods mythology into conversations. Spark curiosity through playful interactions and imaginative storytelling that make every visit memorable.

Operate the Store: Process transactions accurately using our POS system, answer phones, receive and unpack inventory, stock shelves, price merchandise, create attractive displays, and help keep the store organized, clean, and visually inspiring.

Support Community Events: Assist with game nights, workshops, birthday parties, storytelling events, and immersive experiences, helping create memorable moments for guests.

Preferred Experience

We’re less interested in checking boxes than finding people who love creating great customer experiences. Experience in one or more of these areas is helpful:

Retail sales or specialty retail.

Toy stores, bookstores, game stores, hobby stores, museums, or children’s retailers.

Customer service or hospitality.

Receiving inventory, stocking merchandise, merchandising, or maintaining visual displays.

Working with children or families.

An interest in tabletop games, toys, children’s literature, creativity, or imaginative play.
