Job summary

SSA Group is launching a new Photo Experience at Zoo Miami. We are seeking energetic Retail Associates to capture smiles, create memorable guest experiences, and help guests take home lasting memories.

You'll work with the Retail Supervisor and Operations Manager, fulfill guest needs, stock displays, and process transactions, while promoting photo packages and add-ons.

Position Title: Retail Associate

Reports to: Retail Supervisor(s), Assistant Retail Operations Manager, and Retail Operations Manager

• Fulfill guest's needs quickly and efficiently.
• Embody and champion the 452 Hospitality standard to ensure a memorable experience for every guest and client.
• Inform retail leadership in a timely manner when item quantities are low or a special request arises; work with the warehouse team to pull & fill items as necessary.
• Relay relevant guest comments and feedback directly to your supervisor.
• Check and stock supplies in counter area, floor displays, floor stands, and cabinets neatly, accurately, and in a timely fashion.
• Merchandise product and promote add‑on items to maximize sales.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including tables, chairs, and equipment.Uphold company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Supports unit in being an example for Company & Client guidelines with regard to Sustainability/Conservation efforts, and shares that knowledge with unit staff as needed.
• Process cash and credit card transactions accurately, maintaining accurate sales records and balancing the assigned cash drawer.
• Supports SSA / Unit in driving community effort through hiring efforts, engagement activities, and focus on opportunities of giving back
• Assist with opening and closing procedures, including equipment setup, cleaning, and securing the work area.
• Maintain photography equipment, printers, and workstations in clean, organized, working condition, reporting any issues promptly.
• Print, package, and sell photo products while promoting available packages and add‑on items.
• Restock photo supplies and retail displays as needed.
• Capture high‑quality guest photos throughout the attraction.
• Meet individual and team sales goals through guest engagement and product recommendations.
• Assist with other guest service, retail, or operational duties as assigned to support business needs.

Job Requirements

• Friendly, outgoing, and customer‑focused personality.
• Comfortable engaging with children, families, and guests from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including prolonged standing and walking.
• Able to lift up to 25 pounds and perform repetitive movements associated with photography and retail operations.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, holiday and flexible schedules based on our operational needs.
• Thrive in a team environment while having the ability to work independently and demonstrated flexibility in a fast‑paced environment.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required.
• Computer knowledge and skill level basic POS systems

Compensation and Benefits

• Eligible for overtime pay.

• Holiday pay of 1.5× the regular rate is provided for hours worked on Christmas Day and Thanksgiving Day.
• Paid sick leave is provided in accordance with applicable state and local laws. Accrual rates, caps, and usage rules vary by location.

Locations include: Arizona, California, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico, New York, Rhode Island, Washington, D.C.

Colorado: Employees accrue 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours per year, under the Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA).

Maryland: Employees accrue at least 1 hour of paid sick and safe leave for every 30 hours worked, up to 40 hours per year, as required under the Maryland Healthy Working Families Act.

Washington: Employees accrue 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked, in accordance with the Seattle Paid Sick and Safe Time.
