Job summary

DTLR, Inc. in Portsmouth, VA seeks an Assistant Store Manager to support the Store Manager in daily operations, drive sales, manage expenses and inventory, and deliver outstanding customer service.

You will lead and develop store staff, ensure policy compliance, and participate in recruiting, performance reviews, and merchandising. This is a full-time role with a 40-hour week and requires flexibility for days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Requires a minimum of one year in retail management.
• Solid knowledge of business and excellent command of English to communicate with management, associates and customers.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in upholding daily store operations and merchandising execution.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Model leadership to guide staff and maintain training standards.
• Assist with recruitment, selection and training of store personnel.
• Support annual performance evaluations and provide feedback to employees.
• Contribute to expense management and budget alignment.
• Monitor shrink and loss prevention efforts to meet company targets.
• Oversee safety and business standards across the store.
• Support merchandising and suggested selling techniques with staff.
• Ensure outstanding customer service and a welcoming store environment.
• Assist with regular merchandise inventory counts.
• Flexibility to work across multiple stores and a 40-hour work week.
