Reports to: Store Team Leader/Co Team Leader

Department: Store Operations

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Position Overview:

The Assistant Team Leader provides leadership for the successful operation of the entire front-end of the store. The ATL creates and leads a sales team that is passionate about selling merchandise and ensuring a good customer experience. Responsibilities include associate development, customer service, asset protection, and store maintenance.

Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Assist the Store Team Leader with managing payroll budgets, expenses, store banking, shrink reduction, and completing related reports to meet financial and operational goals.
  2. Ensure store standards, Redbook compliance, and company programs meet operational expectations.
  3. Maintain the front-end, entrance, and exterior of the building.
  4. Assign daily tasks to associates and monitor productivity.
  5. Organize and maintain office areas.
  6. Support Door to Floor process and merchandising initiatives.
  7. Complete monthly Operational Risk Assessment (ORA) and alarm tests; ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  8. Lead monthly safety meetings and assess changes from these meetings.
  9. Ensure customer service standards meet company expectations.
  10. Perform price changes as required.
  11. Coach, train, develop, evaluate, supervise, and schedule store associates.
  12. Perform all Team Leader functions for opening and closing the store when needed.
  13. Lead initiatives regarding donation programs and Ollie’s Army membership.
  14. Assist in hiring, recruiting, interviewing, selecting, and onboarding staff to meet staffing needs.
  15. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business management preferred.
  • 1-2 years retail supervisory experience in a mid-size to large retail or service business.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Effective management skills in a professional environment.
  • Sound judgment and confidentiality awareness.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of industry terms and processes.
  • Effective communication and delegation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and listening skills.
  • Positive attitude and good interaction with customers and staff.
Physical Requirements:
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Push and pull up to 35 pounds.
  • Stand for extended periods.
  • Bend, twist, and reach frequently.
  • Grip, reach, and pinch regularly.
  • Squat, kneel, balance, and climb occasionally.
  • Maintain regular sight, hearing, and speech capabilities.
  • Work safely and alertly.
