Job Title: Assistant Store Manager

Location: North Olmsted

Reports To: Store Manager

Position Overview

At Malley’s Chocolates, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in delivering an exceptional store experience, maintaining operational excellence, and leading a high-performing team. This role is key to creating a welcoming, productive environment that reflects Malley’s values. The Assistant Store Manager leads by example, motivates team members, and ensures smooth day-to-day operations.

  • Communicate clearly with the team to keep everyone aligned on goals and expectations.
  • Support a solution-focused culture by handling challenges constructively.
  • Assist in mentoring and developing associates to support internal talent growth.

Customer and Associate Interactions

  • Deliver outstanding customer service and coach the team to do the same.

  • Assist in tracking store sales and key performance indicators.
  • Support the Store Manager in identifying sales trends and opportunities for growth.
  • Practice and promote suggestive selling techniques that increase average transaction value.
  • Help the team focus on strategies that drive top-line growth and contribute to store profitability.


Operational Excellence

Inventory Management

  • Maintain proper inventory levels and help implement FIFO practices to reduce waste.
  • Support regular inventory checks and stock management routines.


Banking and Accounting

  • Assist with cash handling, register balancing, and deposit preparation with accuracy and accountability.


Technology Utilization

  • Use store systems effectively and help train team members on technology tools.
  • Help troubleshoot technical issues to ensure minimal disruption to operations.


Autonomy and Initiative

  • Actively take ownership of delegated responsibilities and daily store functions.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues proactively.
  • Encourage team responsibility and independence in their roles.


Adaptability and Continuous Improvement

  • Adapt quickly to changes in store procedures or company initiatives.
  • Support and contribute to ongoing process improvements and team innovation.
  • Promote a flexible, solutions-focused culture among the team.


Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of retail experience, with some supervisory or keyholder responsibility preferred.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • Basic understanding of retail operations, merchandising, and inventory control.
