Overview

The Retail Assistant Store Manager at Office Depot, Inc. plays a pivotal role in driving total sales and service growth within our stores. Your enthusiasm and expertise will help create and nurture a vibrant sales culture, enhance visual and merchandising standards, manage freight and logistics, and prioritize customer satisfaction. This role involves leading a customer-centric environment, engaging with the local community, and fostering a positive culture aligned with the Office Depot 5C values of Customer, Commitment, Change, Caring, and Creativity. The Assistant Manager will be a “Key Carrier” and a leader on duty, with a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Full-Time positions require performing External Key Carrier duties such as opening and closing the store.

We believe this role is essential in driving store success through inspiring sales and delivering exceptional service. The ideal candidate is passionate about sales, operational excellence, and team development.

The position may require periodic background checks.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Sales and Service Excellence:
    • Partner with management to ensure memorable customer experiences.
    • Implement selling techniques and sales training.
    • Help develop a sales-focused environment through staff training.
    • Model excellent customer service and product knowledge.
  2. Operational Efficiency:
    • Process merchandise accurately and efficiently.
    • Identify and implement process improvements.
    • Assist in coaching staff for better performance.
    • Contribute to increasing sales, AOV, and customer satisfaction.
  3. Leadership and Team Development:
    • Provide guidance and training to store associates.
    • Conduct training on the business model and services.
    • Observe, coach, and give feedback to enhance proficiency.
    • Assess staff performance and competencies.
  4. External Key Carrier Responsibilities:
    • Maintain store safety and security.
    • Perform opening and closing duties, including alarm, cash handling, and store balancing.
    • Ensure loss prevention compliance.

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s preferred.
  • Related fields: Business, Marketing, Retail.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience; retail and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with logistics and freight.
  • Strong selling, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and adapt in a changing environment.

Pay, Benefits & Schedule
