Job summary

Family Dollar in Hurlock, MD is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development.

You will assist with day-to-day functions, help customers, organize merchandise, perform opening/closing, and ensure store standards, safety, and loss prevention while mentoring store associates. This part-time role offers growth with a national retailer and requires strong communication and physical stamina.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays; assist in ordering merchandise and record keeping.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets including store cash.
• Adhere to safety policies and procedures and ensure staff compliance.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep the store clean and presentable, including bathrooms, floors, and trash.
• Other duties as assigned.
