Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager in Akron, OH to help maintain a clean, organized store with a customer-first focus. You will assist the Store Manager with supervising staff, merchandise presentation, deposits, and daily paperwork while performing stocking and cashiering duties to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction.

You will lead by example in customer service, help with scheduling, training, and safety meetings, and ensure adherence to company policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong customer service and leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, and operate cash register and scanner to itemize the customer's purchase.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees, providing training, safety meetings, and ensuring policy compliance.
• Manage merchandise including receiving, stocking, rotating displays, and creating attractive planograms.
• Assist in maintaining accurate inventory by controlling damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Support store security and cash control procedures, deposits, and refunds when applicable.
• Assist with store leadership in the Store Manager's absence.
