The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a full-time Retail & Café Supervisor to lead our retail stores and cafe across three campuses (Papago Park, South Mountain, Sunnyslope). This hands-on leader will train staff, manage scheduling, payroll, inventory, merchandising, and customer experience while ensuring safety and compliance.

You will drive promotions, budgeting, and vendor relations, coordinate volunteers, and deliver an engaging, welcoming experience for every customer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (degree preferred).
• 2+ years retail/restaurant management experience.
• Experience in financial reporting and analysis.
• Proficiency in MS Office and POS systems.
• Experience maintaining low costs and driving margins; handling expense reports.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of three retail stores, one full-service café, and one micro market across three campuses.
• Lead staff and volunteers, including scheduling, payroll, training, and performance support; ensure exceptional customer experience.
• Manage budgeting, financial reporting, inventory, merchandising, promotions, and health & safety compliance.
• Assist with hiring, training, and volunteer coordination; provide coverage during shortages, including cafe service.
• Identify process improvements, monitor sales, and research market trends to improve policies and customer experience.

Day in the Life:

Our Retail & Café Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of three retail stores, one full service café, and one micro market, splitting time between all locations. This hands on leader ensures staff and volunteers are trained, supported, scheduled, and performing to standards while delivering an exceptional customer experience. Responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, staffing, scheduling, payroll, inventory, merchandising, product and menu offerings, promotions, cleanliness, and health and safety compliance. The Supervisor will also assist with hiring, performance management, volunteer coordination, and provide direct coverage during staffing shortages, including one scheduled day of café service each week.

This role requires a proactive, creative, and results driven leader who takes initiative to improve policies, procedures, workflows, and customer experiences. The Supervisor will manage budgets and financial reporting, monitor sales and inventory, reduce waste, identify new products and market opportunities, and research competitors and trends. The ideal candidate leads with enthusiasm and exceptional customer service while creating a welcoming and memorable experience for every customer.

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; A degree in business, financial management, or equivalent preferred.
• 2+ years of retail and/or restaurant management experience required.
• Experience in financial reporting, and analysis.
• Proficient in MS Office and POS systems.
• Experience successfully maintaining low costs, driving strong margins, and working with expense reports.
• Must be able to read and write English, draft, revise, and communicate retail and training material. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
• Ability to learn/use Clover software.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands for the handling of pets, tools, boxes, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
