Job summary

iSoftStone, Inc. is seeking a Senior Data Scientist for a client-facing, contract role in the New York City metro area.

You will own end-to-end analytics engagements across merchandising, supply chain, pricing, and customer analytics, embedding with client teams to scope problems, build models, and defend methodologies to business stakeholders. The role requires travel up to 25%, and hands-on modeling using SQL, Python, and cloud platforms, with visa sponsorship not available.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of applied data science experience, with retail/CPG/e-commerce focus.
• Strong data modeling fundamentals including dimensional modeling and star/snowflake schemas.
• Advanced SQL and production-grade Python (pandas, scikit-learn); experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow or Prophet/ARIMA is a plus.
• Experience with time series forecasting and econometric modeling (elasticity, uplift, incrementality).
• Cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, Azure/AWS/GCP) and CI/CD familiarity.
• Ability to present findings to non-technical clients and contribute to pre-sales and proposals.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery on retail analytics engagements: discovery, data assessment, feature design, modeling, validation, deployment handoff, and results readout.
• Build and productionize models across the retail value chain: demand forecasting, inventory optimization, customer segmentation, price/promo elasticity, markdown optimization.
• Design data models and semantic layers on client data platforms; collaborate with data engineering to define needed tables.
• Evaluate data quality and business logic before modeling; identify data flaws with business impact.
• Present findings to director- and VP-level client stakeholders with clear business impact.
• Support pre-sales: solution shaping, estimations, POC design, and technical credibility.
• Mentor junior analysts and contribute reusable accelerators to the practice.
