Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Restraints Engineer in Dearborn, MI to design, develop, validate, and release restraints system components such as seatbelts, airbags, steering wheels, and adjusters. The role requires coordinating with suppliers, managing PPAP processes, and ensuring timely part deliveries for program milestones.

The position is hybrid, based in Dearborn, MI, with a contract arrangement. Pay ranges from $38.00 to $48.00 per hour, with eligibility for standard benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a design and release engineer for restraints commodities.
• Working knowledge of regulatory and public domain requirements, including FMVSS and IIHS.
• Proficiency in simulation and testing methodologies for restraints and safety systems.
• Strong program management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and prioritize appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Design parts to comply with corporate, regulatory, and local requirements for parts validation, considering Worldwide Customers Requirements (WCR), Engineering Specifications (ES), and Systems Design Specifications (SDS) as well as manufacturing and assembly requirements.
• Translate customer regulatory and product requirements into engineering targets.
• Monitor suppliers and analyze customer feedback through internal systems.
• Incorporate new designs and engineering changes at assembly plants and lead discussions with involved parties, including suppliers.
• Support suppliers and assembly departments with current production quality and manufacturing issues.
• Support production part approval processes (PPAP) for mass production.
• Manage project timing, release drawings, and engineering specifications.
• Create specific Failure Mode Analysis (FMA) Documents, Design Verification Plan and Report (DVPR), and quality documents.
• Ensure part delivery on time for each program milestone and track supplier deliverables.
