Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a Restorative Justice Coordinator to join the Office of Education Options leadership. The role develops district-wide strategies for restorative discipline, reduces suspensions, and aligns with the Uniform Code of Conduct across 50+ Options Schools, building capacity at the school level and coordinating with the juvenile court and probation.

Qualifications

• Masters degree required in clinical social work, law, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years working with adolescents in educational or social service settings.
• Experience with court-involved youth or youth affiliated with gangs.
• Experience evaluating social service needs and coordinating across multiple agencies.

Responsibilities

• Develop network level strategy for capacity building at 50+ Options Schools.
• Develop network policies and alternative discipline approaches focusing on reducing harm and increasing youth engagement.
• Build relationships with the juvenile court and Department of Probation for Cook County.
• Support principals and leaders in fostering a restorative culture in schools.
• Collaborate with the Juvenile Justice Reengagement Team to support transitions back to school.
• Coordinate training and capacity building for staff in restorative practices.
• Develop training curricula and facilitate trainings for Nancy B. Jefferson Alternative School and other Options Schools.
• Maintain positive relationships and communication with parents, guardians, students, probation officers, staff and administrators.
