Job summary

Chess Wizards, Inc. is seeking enthusiastic instructors for its after-school enrichment program in Reston, VA. Lead fun, interactive chess classes for elementary students using our structured curriculum, while promoting good sportsmanship and concentration.

You'll teach 1–5 classes per week, typically 2:00 PM–5:00 PM, with mileage reimbursement for travel and competitive pay of $60–$75 per class. Training and ongoing support are provided, and relocation is not required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children (teaching, tutoring, coaching, camp counseling, or similar).
• Comfort leading a class independently and creating interactive, friendly sessions.
• Professional, positive, and kid-friendly demeanor.
• Genuine desire to be a positive role model and promote good sportsmanship.
• Strong grasp of chess fundamentals; explain moves, basic strategy, and simple tactics.

Responsibilities

• Lead interactive chess classes for 10–15 elementary students.
• Use our curriculum to teach chess fundamentals and promote good sportsmanship.
• Manage a lively classroom with confidence and positivity.
• Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Travel to various local school sites for each session.
• Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to engage students.
