Job summary

SSP America in Detroit is hiring a Utility to support restaurant operations at the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. You will help maintain clean dining and service areas, assist with dishwashing, stocking, and basic kitchen support to ensure smooth guest experiences.

The role emphasizes sanitation, teamwork, and reliable performance in a fast-paced airport environment. Training on safety protocols and sanitary standards will be provided.

Qualifications

• Experience with cleaning and sanitizing in a food service environment preferred.
• Ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Good communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Create a positive guest experience by cleaning and maintaining hygienic work areas.
• Remove refuse to designated areas.
• Maintain cleanliness of surfaces and equipment (floors, walls, counters, etc.).
• Clear and reset tables in dining areas and transport service-ware to the kitchen for cleaning.
• Wash dishes by hand or load dishwasher and return them to storage.
• Clean equipment using chemicals to meet sanitary standards; may include heavy equipment.
• Assist guests with requests and communicate needs to server/supervisor.
• Load/unload supply trucks and transfer goods between storage and work areas.
• Stock, rotate, and check temperature of food items.
• Other duties as assigned.

Here are a few things you can expect as a Utility at SSP America:

• Create a positive guest experience by cleaning and maintaining hygienic work areas
• Remove refuse to designated areas
• Maintain the cleanliness of all surfaces and equipment (i.e., floors, ceiling tiles, walls, windows, worktables, hoods, vents, grills, refrigerators, service counters, storage areas, etc.)
• Clear and reset tables in dining areas between seatings, as needed and transport service-ware to the kitchen for cleaning
• Scrape food from dirty dishes, pots, and pans and wash by hand or load dishwasher and return them to their proper storage place
• Clean equipment using specific chemicals to meet sanitary standards; may include the use of heave equipment
• Assist allguests with specific requests and communicate special needs to server/supervisor
• Load/unload supply trucks transferring between storage and work areas
• Stock, date, rotate, and check temperature of food items
• Other duties as assigned
