Position Summary
The Restaurant Shift Manager assists the Food and Beverage Operations Manager in the day‑to‑day operations of the outlet.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Works with the Food and Beverage Operations Manager to achieve the established P&L guidelines.
- Assists in the hiring, training, evaluating, disciplining and scheduling of supervisors and line staff.
- Responsible for the requisition and inspection of all products and the maintenance of inventory par amounts.
- Assists in the preparation of payroll.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains the health, safety and sanitation of the restaurant in accordance with set guidelines.
- Promotes culinary concept in marketing and public relations efforts.
- Maintains a working relationship with tenant partner and assumes an active role in marketing the restaurant concept.
Minimum Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality or Business Administration.
- Three (3) years of experience in a high‑volume, complex Food and Beverage or casino environment with at least one year supervisory experience in a gourmet‑specialty restaurant.
- In lieu of formal degree, must have two years supervisory experience in a high volume or gourmet‑themed restaurant.
Competencies
- Intermediate knowledge in Micros, Stratton Warren, Word, Excel and Lotus Notes.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Training Requirements
- Must complete and pass the Core Supervisor Training course.
- Excellent understanding of all beverage service techniques, food preparation and product and cooking techniques, including table‑side service.
- Thorough understanding of P&L evaluation, sales forecasting, budget costs, utilization and key volume indicator analysis.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time with frequent bending and lifting.
- Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds.
- Must be able to work various shifts and flexible hours.
- Must be able to sit in front of a computer screen for short periods of time.
- Fast‑paced kitchen environment.
