General Manager/Director of Operations
Job Summary
City Cellars is seeking a dynamic and hands-on General Manager (or Director of Operations) to lead our team with a balance of daily operational excellence and strategic vision. This role is perfect for a seasoned hospitality professional who thrives in the trenches but also has the foresight to shape the future of our concept. You’ll be the driving force behind growing sales, securing buyout business, and leading the company toward higher profitability while ensuring exceptional guest experiences and staff development.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all day-to-day operations, ensuring exceptional service and efficient workflows across the restaurant and bar areas.
- Drive sales growth through innovative strategies, including securing private event and buyout business, as well as developing partnerships to enhance visibility and revenue streams.
- Collaborate closely with the Owner, Executive Chef, Sous Chef, and Beverage & Service Manager to deliver a seamless guest experience.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate the front-of-house team, fostering a positive work culture and encouraging professional growth.
- Maintain a strong presence on the floor during service, addressing guest concerns and providing support wherever needed.
- Work with ownership to set and achieve financial performance goals, focusing on revenue growth, cost control, and overall profitability.
- Partner with marketing and PR teams to create and execute promotional strategies that drive foot traffic and community engagement.
- Monitor and manage inventory, scheduling, and staffing levels to optimize operations.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training programs to maintain consistent quality and service standards.
- Analyze sales data, guest feedback, and KPIs to inform decision-making and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Drive community engagement and build relationships with local residents, businesses, and vendors.
- Collaborate with ownership on long-term growth plans and new initiatives for the concept.
- Oversee the hiring process, including posting job requisitions, interviewing, onboarding, and training for all new employees.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a General Manager or Director of Operations role in a high-volume, full-service restaurant.
- Proven ability to grow sales, secure private event business, and implement strategies that lead to increased profitability.
- Strong leadership skills with a hands-on, proactive approach to management.
- Proven track record of increasing sales, managing budgets, and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with both guests and team members.
- Experience working with marketing and PR teams to develop promotional strategies.
- Ability to multitask and make high-level decisions while maintaining attention to detail in day-to-day operations.
- A passion for food, beverage, and creating memorable guest experiences.

Our Hiring Process

- Second round interviews will be scheduled for mid January (January 9th to January 16th)
