Job summary

Four Seasons Minneapolis seeks a Food & Beverage Assistant Manager to lead the Mara Restaurant & Bar Mara, ensuring exceptional guest experiences. You will oversee staff, schedule shifts, and drive excellence in service and quality for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

With 1–2 years in a leadership role, you will apply knowledge of F&B operations, cost control, and English communication to maintain Four Seasons standards in a luxury setting.

Qualifications

• College degree in hotel/restaurant management or equivalent is required.
• 1–2 years experience as assistant manager or department head in Food & Beverage.
• Knowledge of food & beverage service, cost and labor control, and psychology of guest service.
• Proficiency in English (oral and written).

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and direct Mara Restaurant & Bar Mara operations to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Lead, train, and evaluate staff; manage scheduling and performance.
• Maintain high standards for food quality, wine and service in a luxury setting.
• Control costs, inventory, and cash handling; monitor budgets and expenditures.
• Oversee reservations, seating patterns, and turnover while upholding service standards.
• Collaborate with Hotel Manager, Mara General Manager and leadership team on initiatives.

BASIC PURPOSE: Plan, organize, control and direct the work of employees in the Hotel’s Mara Restaurant and Bar Mara while ensuring guest satisfaction.

Essential Functions

• Select, train, evaluate, lead, motivate, coach, and discipline all employees in the Mara Restaurant & Bar Mara to ensure that established cultural and core standards are met; daily activities and planning for outlet operation.
• The ability to be visible in the operation, provide recognition, promote good public relations, and handle complaints, concerns or special requests for guests, clients, and group contacts.
• Describe and ensure quality of all food items, ingredients, and preparation methods, as well as provide expert knowledge of wine and spirits in an elegantly appointed environment dedicated to an attentive and distinctive experience for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
• Control labor and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, purchasing decisions, and inventory and cash control.
• Observe the physical condition of facilities and equipment in the outlet and make recommendations for corrections and improvements as needed.
• Develop and maintain an elegantly appointed environment with superior staff dedicated to providing our guests with an attentive and distinctive experience for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
• Control reservations, seating patterns, and turnover while maintaining service standards.
• Participate in employee performance evaluations.
• Perform other tasks or projects assigned by the Hotel Manager, Mara General Manager, and Executive Leadership Team.

Preferred Qualifications And Skills

• A college degree specializing in hotel/restaurant management or equivalent experience is required.
• One to two years previous experience in assistant manager or department head position in Food & Beverage.
• Requires a working knowledge of division operations as well as Four Seasons cultural and core standards, policies, and standard operating procedures. Working knowledge is generally learned on-the-job.
• Knowledge of food & beverage service, cost control, labor control, maintenance, merchandising, and accounting.
• Requires ability to operate computer equipment and other food & beverage computer systems.
• Requires reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.
• Eight-to-ten-hour shifts; scheduled days and work hours may vary based on need.
