Qualifications
- Experience in Food & Beverage and as a server.
- Thrives in fast-paced, large team environments.
- Able to stand up to 8 hours and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Knowledge of Minneapolis and surrounding areas is desirable.
- Luxury hotel or resort experience is preferred.
- Must be flexible with schedule: weekdays, weekends, holidays.
- Must be able to carry a tray and handle cash/credit transactions.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- TIPS & ServSafe certified is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Take guest orders and describe food & beverage items with vivid detail.
- Communicate orders to kitchen and bar, coordinating timing.
- Transport items to guest tables promptly and ensure food quality.
- Anticipate guest needs, respond to concerns, and provide personalized service.
- Read each table and adapt to create a customized experience for local and visiting guests.
- Close guest checks and handle payments accurately.
- Set up and break down tables and dining room areas.
- Collaborate professionally with teammates and supervisors.
- Assist during heavy volume in Food & Beverage when needed.

Our Riva/Nordic Village restaurant is a seasonal outlet operating as Riva Terrace Restaurant & Bar in the spring and summer months and Nordic Village during the late fall and winter months. Season-to-season, this restaurant is operated by the same passionate team, out of the same remarkable space, but offers uniquely different dining experiences reflective of the beloved change of seasons in Minnesota.
Basic Purpose: Servers will be responsible for creating a memorable dining experience for guests and residents, providing exceptionaland anticipatoryservice while showcasing a knowledgeable understanding of the menu andpreparation methods.
- Take guest orders and describe the selection of food & beverage menu items to guests by offering interesting and vivid descriptions of each item’s, origin,taste, and preparation methods
- Communicate guest orders including any special needs or requests to the kitchen and bar using the hotel’s point-of-sales system; coordinate foodand beveragetimings
- Check completed kitchen orders with the guest’s original order andtransport items to the guest tableor lounge chairin a timely manner to ensure proper food quality
- Anticipate guest needs, ascertain satisfaction, and offer suggestions, and respond urgently and appropriately to guest concerns and requests
- Read each table and adapt to the guest, creating a customized experiencefor a variety of local guests, international travelers, and building residents alike
- Properly and accurately close guest checks; process cash and credit card payments; properly settle voided checks or complimentary meals
- Breakdown, clean and set-up of tables and chairs
- Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors
- Assists with responsibilities and duties in the absence of or due to heavy volume in areas of Food & Beverage when needed
- Experience working a minimum of 2-3 years in Food & Beverage and previous experience as a server
- Thrive working in a fast paced, and large team environment
- Ability to be standing for up to 8 hours a day and ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Knowledge of Minneapolis and surrounding areas, highly desirable, however not required
- Preferred experience in a luxury hotel or resort
- Must be flexible with schedule - Able to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays shifts
- Ability to carry and balance a tray
- Ability to accurately process cash and credit card transactions
- Ability to multi-task in a high volume and demanding environment
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to handle difficult situations and guests
- Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language
- TIPS & ServSafe certified
