Job description

Summary of Position

Prepares menu items according to company policies, procedures, and standards. Maintains food costs and cleanliness of the kitchen at all times. Works to maximize guest satisfaction and a positive work environment under the guidance of the Kitchen Manager or Manager on Duty.

Position Activities and Tasks
  1. Prepares cooking items and ingredients.
  2. Reports to work well-groomed in a clean, proper uniform, practicing good personal hygiene.
  3. Uses, maintains, and cleans all kitchen equipment and preparation/storage areas.
  4. Stocks and rotates products to ensure freshness and adherence to shelf life standards.
  5. Knows recipes, menu items, and prep procedures to ensure correct portions, quality, and timing.
  6. Prepares prep items per guest requests, following food safety and sanitation standards.
  7. Controls food costs by ensuring proper portioning and recipe adherence.
  8. Utilizes FIFO standards when preparing items.
  9. Maintains cleanliness of kitchen, prep areas, coolers, and storage areas.
  10. Follows safety procedures regarding food handling, rotation, and storage.
  11. Conducts line sweeps and maintains cleanliness throughout shifts.
  12. Understands OSHA and health department standards.
  13. Cleans equipment and work areas as directed.
  14. Identifies and corrects system issues to ensure guest satisfaction.
  15. Communicates effectively with management and team members regarding issues and solutions.
  16. Assists team members with prep and dishwashing duties.
  17. Supports front of house staff with cleanliness and guest service.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  1. Extensive standing and walking for up to 8 hours.
  2. Ability to see at various distances and distinguish shapes.
  3. Clear communication skills.
  4. Exposure to heat, steam, smoke, cold, and chemicals.
  5. Reaching heights up to 6 feet, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  6. Ability to work irregular hours under pressure during busy periods.
Supervision and Skills

Receives training and direction from the Kitchen Manager or Manager on Duty. Basic skills in sanitation, safety, and customer service can be taught internally.
