Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is seeking a Highway Maintenance Crew Leader to supervise maintenance and repair of Area 1’s safety rest areas and adjacent infrastructure. You will lead a hands-on crew, ensure safe operations, coordinate with partners, and manage resources across busy travel corridors.

Qualifications

• Highway maintenance operations on state highways and rights-of-way.
• Ability to establish and lead traffic control in accordance with MUTCD.
• Operate maintenance equipment and commercial vehicles and perform physically demanding work.
• Communicate effectively with crews, supervisors, partners, external agencies and the public.

Responsibilities

• Lead a crew responsible for safety rest areas and area-wide maintenance tasks.
• Plan, schedule, and supervise highway maintenance activities with crews and equipment.
• Maintain highways, drainage, signs, guardrails, vegetation and erosion areas; manage litter and debris.
• Lead snow and ice control operations and apply anti-icing compounds; supervise stockpile sites.
• Respond to emergencies, coordinate traffic control and closures per standards.
• Train personnel in equipment operation and safety, and lead safety meetings.
