Petersen Inc. is seeking a highly qualified NDE professional with ASNT Level III credentials to lead NDE methods, train personnel, and ensure compliance with industry standards throughout our fabrication and machining operations in Ogden, UT.

The role emphasizes certification management, procedure development, and participation in customer audits. The candidate will collaborate with engineering and operations to plan NDE work, certify qualifications, and drive continuous improvement in NDE

Qualifications

  • ASNT Level III in at least two NDE methods (MT, PT or VT preferred).
  • Ability to certify qualifications and pursue additional education for other NDE processes within a reasonable time from start date.
  • Verifiable hours for Level II/III NDE certifications that meet ASNT requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Create, edit and maintain NDE procedures and program documents to meet latest industry and customer requirements.
  • Maintain and approve written practice for control and administration of NDE personnel training, examination and certification per ASNT standards.
  • Train and monitor NDE personnel for technical proficiency and compliance with internal, industry and customer requirements.
  • Develop, qualify and designate NDE procedures and techniques.
  • Participate in customer and certification audits.
  • Interface with engineering to review job requirements and plan NDE operations.
  • Provide NDE technical expertise to internal and external customers.
  • Plan and organize jobs; attend production control/pre-release meetings.
  • Assist with addressing shop floor operational issues related to NDE and overtime needs.
  • Evaluate skill level and performance of personnel per company policy; investigate non-conformances and implement corrective actions.

Job description

Job Responsibilities
  • Create, edit and maintain all NDE related system operating procedures, work instructions and program documents, ensuring NDE procedures adhere to the latest industry and customer requirements.
  • Maintain and approve written practice for control and administration of NDE personnel training, examination and certification (reference SNT-TC-1A and NAS410);
  • Train, develop and monitor technical proficiency of NDE personnel, including auditing and testing to ensure compliance to internal, industry and customer requirements.
  • Develop, qualify, approve and designate NDE procedures and techniques.
  • Participate in customer and certification audits.
  • Managing internal operations requests for support in a timely manner
  • Interface with engineering to review job requirements and plan NDE operations.
  • Provide NDE technical expertise to internal and external customers.
  • Conduct planning of jobs
  • Attend meetings to support operations -- production control planning, pre-release meetings
  • Assist with problem solving shop floor operational issues related to NDE
  • Ensure support operational needs, including overtime required
  • Evaluate skill level and performance of personnel per company process and policy.
  • Investigate any anomalies-- Non-Conformances (NC's), job overruns, accidents, incidents, define and implement appropriate corrective actions.
Requirements

Must have required education and experience to meet ASNT Level III standard in at least two NDE methods, preferably including MT, PT or VT. Must have ability to certify qualifications and complete any required additional education and testing for other needed NDE processes within a reasonable time period from employment start date. Must have verifiable work experience and documentation of hours for Level II/III NDE certifications that meet ASNT requirements.
