Job summary

Petersen Inc. in Ogden, UT is seeking a Responsible Level III NDE to lead nondestructive examination programs in a heavy fabrication environment. You will create and maintain procedures, train personnel, and support audits and customer requirements.

The role requires ASNT Level III in at least two NDE methods (MT, PT, VT) and hands-on expertise, with a focus on quality, safety, and continuous improvement in a multi-discipline manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

  • Must meet ASNT Level III standard in at least two NDE methods (MT, PT or VT preferred).
  • Must certify qualifications and complete additional education/testing for other NDE processes.
  • Verifiable hours for Level II/III NDE certifications per ASNT requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Create, edit and maintain NDE procedures and documents per latest industry and customer requirements.
  • Train and audit NDE personnel to ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Develop and designate NDE procedures and techniques; participate in audits.
  • Interface with engineering to review job requirements and plan NDE operations.
  • Provide NDE expertise to internal and external customers.
  • Plan and attend meetings to support operations and production control.

We are looking for a Responsible Level III NDE
Job Responsibilities
  • Create, edit and maintain all NDE related system operating procedures, work instructions and program documents, ensuring NDE procedures adhere to the latest industry and customer requirements.
  • Maintain and approve written practice for control and administration of NDE personnel training, examination and certification (reference SNT-TC-1A and NAS410);
  • Train, develop and monitor technical proficiency of NDE personnel, including auditing and testing to ensure compliance to internal, industry and customer requirements.
  • Develop, qualify, approve and designate NDE procedures and techniques.
  • Participate in customer and certification audits.
  • Managing internal operations requests for support in a timely manner
  • Interface with engineering to review job requirements and plan NDE operations.
  • Provide NDE technical expertise to internal and external customers.
  • Conduct planning of jobs
  • Attend meetings to support operations – production control planning, pre-release meetings
  • Assist with problem solving shop floor operational issues related to NDE
  • Ensure support operational needs, including overtime required
  • Evaluate skill level and performance of personnel per company process and policy.
  • Investigate any anomalies– Non-Conformances (NC’s), job overruns, accidents, incidents, define and implement appropriate corrective actions.
Requirements:

Must have required education and experience to meet ASNT Level III standard in at least two NDE methods, preferably including MT, PT or VT. Must have ability to certify qualifications and complete any required additional education and testing for other needed NDE processes within a reasonable time period from employment start date. Must have verifiable work experience and documentation of hours for Level II/III NDE certifications that meet ASNT requirements.
