Job summary

Project HOME is seeking a RespiteSupport Staff member for the Inn of Amazing Mercy in Philadelphia, PA. This part-time overnight role (Saturday and Sunday, 12AM–8AM) supports residents’ recovery and wellness, maintains safety, and logs activities in our systems.

You will assist with daily living activities, de-escalate crises, coordinate with staff, and help prepare meals while ensuring security and adherence to program protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• ServSafe certificate at time of hire or must obtain within 90 days of hire.
• At least 1 year experience working in behavioral health and/or homelessness.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Site Health & Safety.
• Provide a supportive, recovery-oriented environment for residents with substance use disorders.
• Grant access to staff, residents, guests, and approved deliveries; log visitors.
• Conduct and document building rounds for safety and security.

RespiteSupport Staff will assist residents in achieving recovery and wellness goals, fostering a culture of peer support, and connecting with community resources while role modeling positive behaviors. They play a crucial role in maintaining community peace and security, orienting new residents to program protocols, and promoting a supportive living environment.

• Location: Inn of Amazing Mercy, 115 E. Huntingdon St. Phila, PA 19125
• Schedule: Part Time - Saturday and Sunday 12AM-8AM (overnight)
• Pay Rate: $19.68/hr

What You'll Do:

• Maintain Site Health & Safety
• Provide a supportive, recovery-oriented environment for individuals actively struggling with substance use disorders.
• Grant access to staff, residents, guests, and approved delivery personnel only, ensuring all guests sign the visitor log and logging deliveries.
• Conduct and document building rounds to check the safety and security of residents and the premises.
• Address urgent and crisis situations using de-escalation strategies and follow emergency procedures for incidents such as floods and fires.
• Manage resident interactions independently at the site while having on-call assistance available as needed.
• Support clients with activities of daily living, including laundry, showering, and personal hygiene needs

Communication and Documentation

• Answer incoming calls, take accurate messages, and transfer calls as needed.
• Participate in shift briefing with outgoing and oncoming staff
• Complete accurate and timely documentation in Salesforce (EHR), Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and other designated platforms.
• Follow site procedures to communicate with on-call staff during shift transitions.
• Monitor and document client behaviors, incidents, and program rule violations.

Resident Engagement

• Establish and maintain healthy, respectful relationships with residents, guests, and community members.
• Engage residents in a manner that acknowledges their unique recovery processes.
• Facilitate recovery and community-building groups and activities as appropriate.

Additional Duties

• Attend meetings and trainings, including supervision, staff meetings, community meetings, linkage meetings, and court appearances, if necessary.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living, laundry, extermination preparation, room turnovers, and receive and document food/program fees, when necessary.
• Prepare and serve meals/snacks as designated times as required. Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and oversee kitchen clean up (wash dishes, empty trash, etc).

Medication Monitoring Duties

• Assist residents to comply with taking their prescribed medications per medication monitoring policy and site protocols.

What You'll Bring:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• ServSafe certificate at time of hire ormustobtainwithin90 days of hire.
• At least 1 year experience working in behavioral health and/or homelessness.

Core Skills:

• Basic computer/technology literacy
• Knowledge of crisis intervention and de-escalation
• Good communication skills, both verbally and in writing, excellent interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with all levels of staff and residents.

Physical requirements:

• Ability to move through and access different environments/work that involves sitting/standing/walking
