Job summary

The Child Center of NY is seeking a Respite Care Worker to provide temporary care and support for children with Serious Emotional Disturbance in homes and community settings. You will help create safe, fun, and enriching experiences while supporting families and caregivers.

Responsibilities include engaging children in activities, coordinating with Health Home providers, and documenting services within 48 hours. Strong communication and organization are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of experience with children with special needs.
• Compassion and ability to connect with diverse groups.
• Strong written and verbal communication and listening skills.
• Basic MS Office; familiarity with EHR is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide care and support for children in homes or community settings.
• Engage children in recreational activities building on strengths.
• Collaborate with Health Home providers and parents.
• Maintain documentation within 48 hours of service.
• Communicate openly with children and families about activities and observations.
• Perform other related responsibilities as needed.
