Job summary

Barber National Institute is seeking caring staff to provide respite sessions for children, ensuring safety and emotional wellbeing. You will participate in activities, monitor health and behavior, and maintain clear records for each child under your supervision.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and the ability to engage developmentally with children with autism or intellectual disabilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with individuals who have intellectual disabilities or autism preferred but not required.
• Strong ability to supervise and engage children safely and developmentally.
• Keen observation to monitor behavior and respond proactively.
• Accurate and timely incident/accident documentation.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality care and supervision to children during respite sessions.
• Actively participate in all scheduled activities and maintain professional demeanor.
• Ensure health, safety, and well-being of all children in attendance.
• Review emergency data forms for critical information (allergies, seizures, etc.).
• Take primary responsibility for the children assigned during the session.
• Assist in facilitating designated activities and programs for children.
• Maintain positive relationships with parents and guardians.
• Report incidents or accidents to the Respite Coordinator promptly.
• Complete required documentation accurately and promptly.
