Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems is seeking a Respiratory Therapy Supervisor to lead the respiratory care team and serve as a resource for staff and students. The role provides advanced respiratory care in accordance with guidelines and hospital standards.

Qualifications include Virginia licensure as a Respiratory Therapist and NBRC RRT certification, with CPR and at least 3 years of experience, preferably in a critical care setting.

Qualifications

• Licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Respiratory Therapist.
• NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required.
• Current CPR certification as required by practice setting.

Responsibilities

• Supervises assigned respiratory staff; conducts performance evaluations; schedules employees; approves time off and approves equipment rentals.
• Provides safe and effective respiratory care per Clinical Practice Guidelines and hospital standards.
• Consults with physicians and nurses regarding the patient care plan; selects ventilators and adjusts parameters as needed.
• Maintains work areas in a clean and well stocked manner; calls in additional staff when appropriate.
