Job summary

Select Specialty Hospital is seeking a Respiratory Therapy Manager/Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in Des Moines to lead the respiratory therapy department, oversee daily operations, and ensure high-quality patient care. This role requires NBRC RRT and lifelong learner mindset with a focus on regulatory compliance and staff development.

You will collaborate with the Chief Nursing Officer, participate in Wean Team rounds, and mentor staff while maintaining cost-effective operations in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• Current State License.
• Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from NBRC.
• Proof of graduation (transcript/diploma or GED).
• BLS certification by start date.
• ACLS within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the daily operations of the respiratory therapy department, including staffing, hiring decisions, orientation, evaluations and training.
• Coordinating employee engagement, recruitment and retention.
• Implementing standards of care, policies and procedures.
• Ensuring regulatory requirements are met for respiratory and point-of-care services.
• Creating and maintaining the clinical schedule for safe staffing.
• Maintaining clinical cost control.
• Participating in Wean Team/Pulmonary Rounds and communicating with pulmonary physicians for weaning from ventilation.
• Driving clinical excellence through staff development and quality improvement.
• Teaching and counseling patients and families.
• Maintaining competency in Rapid Response and code events.
• Functioning as Lab Manager for point-of-care testing and as Safety Officer where applicable.

Education

Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy
