Job summary

Arbors at Springfield is seeking a Respiratory Therapist Manager to provide clinical direction for respiratory care and in‑services within our long‑term care facility. You will supervise and educate staff while ensuring high‑quality resident care.

The role requires a CRT or RRT license, CPR, and at least one year of experience in a long‑term care setting. Expect collaboration with management and a patient-centered team culture that emphasizes growth and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care services within the Respiratory Care Practitioner scope of services.
  • Record all pertinent respiratory care information and communicate with physicians and staff.
  • Ensure equipment storage and proper signage/documentation within the facility.
  • Handle routine mail, calls, and paging as needed; perform filing and faxing.
  • Communicate clinical and operational issues to facility staff.
  • Assess patient respiratory needs, oxygen saturation, and ventilator status.
  • Complete treatments and ventilator checks promptly; notify supervisor of concerns.
  • Complete TARs monthly with accurate information.
  • Assess for decannulation and weaning.
  • Resolve routine problems and communicate solutions to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform other assigned tasks.

Summary

The Respiratory Therapy Manager, under the direction of management, is responsible for providing clinical direction and in‑services regarding patient care and other respiratory related issues to the facility.

Qualifications
Education
  • A CRT or RRT license and a graduate of an AMA approved school for respiratory care is required.
Licenses/Certification
  • Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the state employed.
  • Valid CPR certification.
  • Vent Certified, preferred.
Experience

One year of respiratory therapy experience preferred in a long term care setting.

Job Functions
  • Provides respiratory related services for established times or services within the Respiratory Care Practitioner scope of services. This may include testing the patient for qualifying clinical needs, gathering information, completing and/or submitting the information to the facility.
  • Records all pertinent information on respiratory care records and patient charts. This includes consults, recommendations, and pertinent conversations with physicians, staff, patient, patient family members or other caregivers. Verbal or telephone orders should be handled according to facility policy.
  • Assists facility in regulatory issues, ensuring that respiratory equipment and supplies are stored in appropriate storage area, and appropriate signs and documentation are provided within the facility.
  • Takes care of routine mail, phone calls and pages as necessary. Also completes necessary filing and faxing.
  • Communicates with facility staff regarding relevant clinical and operational issues regarding the program and patient care issues.
  • Assess for patient’s respiratory needs. Assess oxygen saturation and use of pulse ox. Be able to assess ventilator patients and work with ventilators.
  • Complete treatment and ventilator check in a timely fashion. Notifies supervisor of any facility concerns or needs.
  • Completes TARs at the end of each month checking for accurate information.
  • The ability to assess for decannulation and weaning.
  • Resolves routine problems and communicates solution to appropriate personnel.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
