Job summary

ThedaCare is seeking a Respiratory Therapy Extern to support the Respiratory Therapy team across patient care areas in Wisconsin. The extern works under supervision to stabilize and address respiratory issues and to maintain equipment as needed.

This role requires enrollment in a respiratory therapy program with at least one clinical rotation completed and BLS/CPR certification. It also involves shift variability and alignment with department processes.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a qualified Respiratory program with one clinical rotation completed.
• Certifications: American Heart Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR for health care providers.

Responsibilities

• Assists in care of patients with respiratory problems under supervision of a Licensed Respiratory Therapist.
• Applies critical thinking and triages/prioritizes patients.
• Communicates effectively with patients, family, physicians, and team members.
• Responsible for proper respiratory therapy equipment assembly following safety procedures and maintenance.
• Takes responsibility for professional growth and development.
