A Brief Overview

Primarily responsible for administering respiratory therapy according to the Respiratory Services Standards of Care, evaluating the effectiveness of therapy, and ensuring appropriate patient treatments.

What You Will Do

1. Provide respiratory therapy in accordance with hospital policies, respecting patient dignity and privacy.
2. Administer respiratory therapeutics including CPT & PD, aerosol therapy, MDI, IPPB, incentive spirometry, O2 management, pneumogram setup, ECG/holter monitoring, and pulmonary function screening.
3. Manage airways and mechanical ventilators.
4. Perform arterial blood gas collection and analysis.
5. Educate patients and families about disease processes and treatments.
6. Monitor hemodynamic and pharmaceutical interactions affecting patient status and communicate appropriately.

Essential Qualifications

Ability to work the specified hours, with visual acuity adequate for job duties, and effective communication skills. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience

• Some college coursework in an A.M.A. approved Respiratory Therapy program.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner Temporary Permit or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) active in the state of practice upon hire.

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience

• High School diploma or GED.
• 1-3 years of experience preferred.
